There’s no way that I could put it better than the man himself…

“The urban art scene is enlivened by the creative works of DUBELYOO. Internationally known as the ART BISHOP, DUBELYOO is renowned for his bold use of eye popping colors in works which focus on women of color and Hip Hop. His paintings and illustrations fuse bright color, mixed media, and computer based art to achieve strongly sculpted visions. DUBELYOO’s art is a true representation of his era. His sketches and paintings reflect the diverseness of urban culture with worldwide social relevance.

DUBELYOO designs custom logos and illustrations for a wide variety of mainstream corporations. He has created exclusive paintings for Nike, illustrated a calendar for Pepsi, and has worked with other high-profile names such as FUBU, Coca-Cola, Red Bull, Ecko, URB Magazine, and author T.D. Jakes. Creative collateral has been produced for Apple, WebMD, 3 Vodka, American Greetings, Discovery Channel, and Spelman College.

DUBELYOO’s work appears in the 2006 full-length motion picture, ATL, directed by Chris Robinson. His work is also featured in the 2008 music video for Grammy award winner Alicia Keys’ single, Teenage Love Affair. While it is his first love, DUBELYOO takes his creativity beyond the canvas to design clothing and outerwear, and to provide custom art for apparel. The ‘Atlanta’ shoe by popular shoemaker, Converse, is designed by the ART BISHOP, himself.

Since early 2000, DUBELYOO’s mission is to bring the wow factor back to art. In his premiere exhibit, My Uzi Weighs a Ton, DUBELYOO features paintings and illustrations which examine America’s fascination with firearms.

His most recent project is Art, Beat’s + Lyrics; a popular art exhibit which DUBELYOO co-created and produces. In 2008, AB+L partnered with liquor brand, Jack Daniels, to produce one of the nation’s largest, urban art exhibits. DUBELYOO and Art, Beats, & Lyrics are currently touring across the country. In his everyday efforts to “convert the wack”, the Art Bishop shares tips, commentary and experiences through his popular blog site, www.dubelyoo.net.

DUBELYOO is a student of his craft and received a BFA in Communications Arts from East Carolina University. He regularly lectures at high schools and colleges, giving art students an inside glimpse of the life of a professional artist and sharing his strong belief in artistic independence as the path to true artistic freedom.”
